Study in Finland
One national portal, fixed January dates, and selection by entrance exam. No agent can shortcut this system — which is exactly why preparation has to start early.

Bachelor's degrees
Three to four years, taught in English at both universities and universities of applied sciences (UAS). UAS programmes are more practice-oriented and include a compulsory work placement; traditional universities lean academic and research-led.
- Business and international trade
- Engineering and IT
- Nursing and health care
- Hospitality and tourism
Master's degrees
One to two years. Entry is based on your bachelor's degree, your transcript and — for most programmes — an entrance exam or interview. A relevant first degree matters more here than it does in Korea.
- Technology and engineering
- Business and management
- Education and social sciences
- Health and welfare
Programmes are searched and applied for through Studyinfo.fi, the national portal. One joint application lets you rank up to six programmes — and that order is binding once the period closes.
What Finland asks forbefore it says yes
€9,600 for the first year, held in your own account when you submit the residence permit application. If tuition has not yet been paid, that amount must be in the account as well.
Work income does not count as first-year funding. The money has to be there before you apply.
Most programmes accept IELTS 6.0–6.5 or equivalent. Some UAS programmes admit on entrance exam results alone. We check the exact threshold per programme rather than quoting one number for the whole country.
This is the part most applicants underestimate. Finnish selection is competitive and exam-based — often mathematics, logical reasoning and English comprehension, sat online or at a test centre. Preparation needs to start months before January, not after.
Private insurance covering medical and medication costs for the full permit period. Programmes under two years require higher cover than longer ones; we confirm the current figure before you buy a policy.
There is a fee for non-EU applicants at the joint application stage, and a separate residence permit fee to Migri. Both are paid by you directly, not through us.
Two kinds of institution, and the difference matters
Universities
Research-led, academic, with a clear bachelor's → master's → doctoral path. Stronger if you intend to continue into research or a PhD, or if you want a degree that reads as traditionally academic on a CV.
Universities of Applied Sciences
Profession-oriented, with compulsory work placements built into the degree. Stronger if your goal is employment in Finland after graduation, because the placement often becomes the first job.
We do not push every student toward the same institution. Which route fits depends on your results, your budget and whether you intend to stay in Finland after graduating. If your profile does not support a Finnish application this cycle, we will say so and show you what Korea offers instead.
Why you starteight months early
Miss the January window and the next one is a full year away. There is no rolling admission for most degree programmes in Finland.
Is Finland realistic for your profile?
Bring your transcripts, your budget and the year you want to start. We will tell you honestly whether the January round is worth preparing for — and what to do instead if it is not.
